ITALU-YA.OrdermadeHistory No.231:A five-clawed cloud dragon clutching a jewel
This design is a five-clawed cloud dragon clutching a jewel in its left hand, was crafted from silver bullion. We received an order from Mr. Fujita Mamoru, a knife maker with whom we have had a long-standing relationship and who is renowned for his work at custom knife shows, to create a decoration to be embedded in a knife grip. The jewel held by the five claws is set in place using the same process as setting a gemstone. The border around the dragon design is decorated with fish roe. The atmosphere was inspired by the menuki and kashiragane (head metal ornaments) made from metalwork from the Edo to Meiji periods.
五本爪の雲龍が左手で珠を掴んでいる構図を銀地金で製作しました。以前からお付き合い頂いているカスタムナイフショー等で著名なナイフメーカー藤田守氏よりナイフグリップに埋め込む装飾としてご注文を頂きました。五本爪で握られている珠は宝石をセッティングする同様の加工で留めてあります。龍図の回り縁は魚々子で飾りました。雰囲気としては江戸期から明治期に作られた金工の目貫や頭金（かしらがね）をイメージして製作しました。
